Foster for ACR

There's no place like home!

ACR fosters care for rescued cats and kittens in their own homes until permanent adopters are found. Our foster volunteers help kitties in countless ways, and our organization could not exist without them! You don’t have to be an animal expert to foster with us -- all you need is a safe home, a willingness to learn, and a love of animals. We’ll help you with the rest!

Foster Parent Responsibilities

Fostering with ACR is a lot of fun! We encourage our foster parents to treat their foster kitties like household members, giving them the love and attention that every animal deserves. Fostering can also provide a way to see if a cat or kitten is a good match for your lifestyle, before committing to adopt.

We cover all medical costs. Depending on the fostering experience you choose, you may be required to bring your cats or kittens in for vaccinations, vet appointments, and weekend adoption events.

Choose Your Own Adventure

Eager to foster a litter of adorable fluffy kittens? Hoping for some peaceful company with a mellow adult? Looking to really make a difference by caring for a special needs cat? You tell us who you would like to foster. We’ll match you with a foster based on your requests and experience.

If you are unsure, talk to us! We will help determine what type of fostering will suit your lifestyle best. Kittens are a lot of fun and oh-so-cute! Adults are awesome to foster, too, with fewer vet visits and more nap times.

Foster Bottle Babies

Bottle babies are orphaned kittens who are still too young to eat solid food on their own. They’re usually under four weeks old. Without a mother cat to feed and clean them, it’s up to us to make sure these little ones survive.

We are always looking for bottle-feeders. This requires a serious commitment, as very young kittens may need feeding as often as every two hours. This type of fostering is best for people who stay at home, work from home, or are able to bring tiny kittens to work every day.

The Rewards of Fostering

Fostering is not always easy, but it is very rewarding! You will feel good in knowing that you are providing a safe and healthy environment for cats and kittens who need to heal, grow, or get some extra TLC. You will help your fosters develop social skills that will enable them to bond with new families who will love them for the rest of their lives.

Fostering will make your life a lot more interesting! And don't forget - for every animal adopted from your home, you are gaining the space to save one more life!
